Last week I started posting weekly traffic reports for Marketing-SEO.com and today it’s time to post the stats for week #2 (the first full week).
Week 2: April 14th - 20th
I’m gradually building the amount of content - four posts this week (including last weeks traffic stats), which was one or two less than I was hoping for, but is a pace I’m very comfortable with.
My strategy this week has been similar to last, find topics people are talking about and actively take part in the conversation - I dropped off for a bit towards the end of last week as you’ll soon see, but it has started to pick up again in the last couple of days. Here are my traffic stats for this week (click for larger pic):
I included today in there (although still quite early in the day), as it looks like StumbleUpon has started driving some more traffic (thanks to those who submitted it!). Not as high as the initial spike last week (yet), but it’s been constantly running about 20-30 unique page views this week, which is decent numbers for a blog in its second week.
Here’s a look at where the traffic is coming from (click for larger pic):
First thing to note is that the bounce rate is down on last week (good), although the bounce rate from StumbleUpon traffic is still significant, and the average time spent on the site is very low indicating that the StumbleUpon traffic isn’t even reading that one article (bad) - something that still needs work. Good to see that Twitter is starting to send some direct traffic too, which is cool.
FeedBurner: RSS subscriptions are a bit lower than I would have liked to see, currently running at 13, but a high of 22 throughout the week - Feedburner data seems to fluctuate a bit. My goal is to hit 100 subscribers by the end of the first month, so there’s still a bit of work to do there. Here’s my FeedBurner graph (click for larger pic):
What’s next? More of the same really, although now that I’ve started to build up some content here, my plan over the next couple of weeks will be to start looking at doing some guest posts on popular blogs related to blogging (plenty of those around). Guest posts will give me more of a chance to start conversations instead of just adding to them, as well as opening my brand to new pools of readers who probably haven’t come across me on Twitter. I’ll talk more about guest posting once I’ve got some ready to go.
